It has been brought to my attention that there are concerns The American Legion, Department of Indiana is not marching in the Veterans Day Parade. To address this rumor directly and succinctly, this is not true. Department officers, and members of the entire family are invited to march behind the Indiana Parade Banner with your Department Commander as has been the case traditionally every year in recent memory. A digital newsletter was sent statewide in October asking for volunteers to march with your Indiana leadership and to sign up via the Department website for announcements as to staging areas, times, parking information, etc. That window is still open and available via the Department website at: https://www.indianalegion.org/veteransday.html
To date, we have more than 60 marchers to include the Post 510 Color Guard, motorcycles, the Auxiliary, SAL and many Post contingencies and displays. Staging arrangements including times and locations will be announced by the Veterans Day Council of Indianapolis a week prior to the Parade. I encourage you all to sign up at the link provided above. The Veterans Day Service begins on the North steps of the Indiana War Memorial at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 10. The parade will immediately follow at noon. A free veterans benefit concert featuring Lynyrd Skynyrd will take place at The American Legion Mall at the conclusion of the parade. Video and images of the day’s observance will, as always, be posted on the Department website at www.indianalegion.org/news. Visit that link to learn about Legion Family events and veterans related news. I look hope to see many of you there.
Thank you.
